Water tower at lake Obersee

The Löwenbrauerei, built in 1892, and the residential area around Obersee needed purified drinking water in addition to the water from Obersee, which was built as a water reservoir. This was stored in the water tower built in 1900. The service time of the local water supplier did not last long. It was shut down in 1922 when the Löwen brewery ceased production and Hohenschönhausen was connected to the Berlin water supply. The clinker tower, still visible today, carried a metal water tank until 1933. During the Second World War, it served as an anti-aircraft tower, and in the GDR, members of the Society for Sport and Technology broadcast their messages over the airwaves. Today, a bar awaits guests here.
