Japanese Cherry Garden

Hagenower Ring 35 A
13051 Berlin

The cherry orchard was planted at the entrance to the Wartenberger Feldmark Landscape Park shortly after the political turnaround. Japanese ornamental cherries, a gift from Japan, are to document the historical event as a symbol of peace and the sun. The grove was laid out radially like a rising sun and forms the entrance area to the Wartenberger Feldmark. The Japanese gate by Brandenburg wood sculptor Wolfgang Stübner is the centrepiece. According to old Japanese tradition, secret wishes are fulfilled when visitors pass through the oak gate at sunrise.
