Landscape park Herzberge
Sheep, amphibians and lizards - there is indeed a lot to discover in Berlin Lichtenberg. Around 100 hectares are now home to various biotopes, old trees, meadows and pastures.
"Until 2007, today's landscape park was a wild mixture of wasteland, farmland, housing and green areas. Since the Agrarbörse Deutschland Ost e.V., together with the district office in Lichtenberg, initiated a whole series of projects to develop the land into a model project for urban agriculture, a real biotope has been created.
With its sheep pastures, orchards and biotopes, the Herzberge Landscape Park combines local recreation, agricultural use and nature conservation. Ponds and pools are home to frogs, green toads, newts and grass snakes. Children in particular are always delighted to see the herd of black Pomeranian sheep that regularly graze the land here."
