Residential complex Gotlindestraße

Gotlindestraße 91
10365 Berlin

Until reunification, the building complex at Gotlindestraße 91 was owned by the Ministry for State Security.

The cube-shaped office building on the site was built between 1975 and 1979 as "House 43". It was the headquarters of the MfS intelligence service. Secret and highly confidential information was passed on from here to other parts of the republic or to Moscow. Communication between the leaders of the GDR and the USSR ran over lines in this building, which were secured by Soviet telephone encryption.

In 1990 the Bundespost took over the building, in 1995 it became the property of Telekom, in 2014 it was privatised and from 2020 to 2021 it was converted from an office building into a residential building with 50 residential lofts.

In addition to this building, a branch of the Federal Office of Administration has been located on the site in "Haus 41" since the 1990s. Among other things, this took over the liquidation of assets of the Ministry for State Security.
