Tabor Church Hohenschönhausen

The centrepiece and little jewel of the former village of Hohenschönhausen lies in the immediate vicinity of a building named "Schloss Hohenschönhausen" . The church building is one of the smallest village churches in Berlin. The many traces that time has left behind can be marvelled at on the open church day.

Around 1230, the rectangular chancel was built in the style of late Romanticism or early Gothic. In the 15th century, extensions were made. By 1450 the church had been extended to a two-nave nave, around 1470 it received a small half-timbered tower and in 1471 the first bell. In 1714 and 1738 there were further extensions and alterations. From 1904 to 1905, the interior was redesigned and the exterior renewed. The church was given the name "Berg-Thabor-Kirche". In 1953, the tower had to be demolished due to structural damage, and a new one was not built.

Until 1895, the old village cemetery was located around the church. This was already closed in 1856.

Offering the following:

The Gothic church invite for church services, regular concerts and other events. The place is a very important milestone in Hohenschönhausens' history.
