Malthouse (today Berliner Kindl-Schultheiss Brewery)
The Berliner Kindl Brauerei took up its administrative headquarters in Lichtenberg in the 1920s and had new production buildings designed and built by the architects Hans Claus and Richard Schepke. The malt house is particularly striking. The building is an unadorned cube, 33 metres high, with two recessed attic storeys and narrow bands of windows. Slightly offset from each other, the building sections correspond to the functions of receiving and storing the grain. Only three round arches are decorative. Otherwise, function dominates the building and is a good example of the architectural objectivity of the time of construction.
Today, the brands Berliner Kindl, Berliner Pilsner and Schultheiss are bottled here. As Berliner Kindl-Schultheiss Brauerei, it belongs to the Radeberg Group.
