Villa Looß at Fennpfuhl

The villa was completed in 1896 as a magnificent residence for the imperial court gardener and horticultural director Gustav Adolph Schultz. This building is the oldest still standing in the district.

The villa was completed in 1896 as a magnificent residence for the imperial court gardener and horticultural director Gustav Adolph Schultz. This makes it the oldest building still standing in the Fennpfuhl district and it was listed as a historical monument in 2013.

The property changed hands several times before the Second World War. After the Second World War, it was initially confiscated by the Soviet army and used as a warehouse. In 1952, the villa and the surrounding grounds came into the possession of the city. Between 1972 and 1984, the villa served as the headquarters of the state building authority. After the latter moved into new offices, the villa was renovated and served the district as a branch of the registry office from 1986 until after reunification in 2007.

In 2007, the entrepreneur Wolfgang Looß acquired the villa. The villa houses event rooms and the "Altes Standesamt" café/restaurant. Since 2008, it has also been possible to get married in the villa again.
