Young couple (the lovers)

Artist: Jürgen Raue (1978)
Material: bronze
Placed in 1980 at open-air exhibition "Plastik und Blumen" in Treptower Park. Since 1987/1988 installation in the Fennpfuhlpark near Anton-Saefkow-Square.

In addition to the sandstone sculptures, there are also three bronze objects in the Fennpfuhl area: "Große Liegende" by Siegfried Krepp (1966), "Junges Paar (die Liebenden)" by Jürgen Raue (1978) and the "Baumdenkmal" by Michael Klein (2011). The latter, however, is not in the park, but at the northern end of Anton-Saefkow-Platz.

The Berlin sculptor Jürgen Raue was commissioned to create this group as early as 1973 as part of the concept for the artistic design of the Leninallee residential complex on the corner of Weissenseer Weg. The bronze cast of this sculpture was completed in 1978 and shown for the first time at an art exhibition in 1979. The installation of the group of figures in Fennpfuhlpark was planned for a long time. The installation was planned for 1983, later 1985 and finally 1987.

The group of figures "Young Couple" was finally erected in Fennpfuhlpark in the summer of 1988. The group initially stood between the department store and the registry office, in the area of today's parking lot. It was moved to its current location in the area of the former lakeside terraces in 2011 in connection with the conversion of the department store and the creation of the new parking areas.
