Public city park of Lichtenberg
In 1907, the community of Lichtenberg acquired the green space, previously used as a manor park, which originated from a private park of General Wichard von Möllendorff and was planted with rare wood.
In 1798, General Wichard von Möllendorff had a manor house and surrounding park built and laid out in the center of Lichtenberg. Since 1907, the 5.3 hectare park has been redesigned as the Lichtenberg town park. It is a leisure park with a small open-air stage, many sports facilities and art objects, a peaceful large pond and rare old trees. A total of 9 art objects made of bronze (4) and cast stone (5) are scattered around the park.
There is hardly any reliable information about the bronze group of children playing music shown in the picture. Neither the name of the artist nor the exact date of its creation or installation are known beyond doubt.
This group has probably been in the Stadtpark since the 1950s, as it can be found in photos from that time. Some sources state that it was erected in 1965.
